The 1st Awardee in our # KeepScienceAlive campaign is Dr. Joseph Tam, who spent 6 years as a post-doc and staff scientist at the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), National Institute of Health (NIH) before he recently left to head up the Obesity and Metabolism Laboratory and direct the Multidisciplinary Center on Cannabinoid Research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Dr. Tam’s research is focused on uncovering the involvement of the peripheral endocannabinoid system in the pathogenesis of obesity and its metabolic complications, with therapeutic prospects for the development of an effective drug therapy. Dr. Tam has been awarded liver tissue so that he can investigate endocannabinoid tone in the DIAMOND™ mouse model.
